Notes on the Anatomy Lesson series

I've had an ongoing fascination with how we understand our bodies and codify that knowledge in medical texts and illustrations. The format of this series gave me the opportunity to explore how some of the critical elements of our existence seem to elude the capture of the medical train of thought. Namely our seemingly inherent nature to create and to think imaginatively and the age old philosophical question of the 'soul'. The first series delves into this directly hence the subtitles of the first five Anatomy lesson pieces culled from the Georg Trakl poem Helian.
The second part of this series is also a meditation on the role of Renaissance Baroqe painters, the 'Great Masters', and the role they play in respect to contemporary art. Combined with the anatomy theme these set stage pieces are presented ad a sort of 'theater of operation'.
